1 Influence of Alkali Metal Substitution on the Phase 2 Transition Behavior of CsGa Q 2 ( Q = S , Se ) 3

چکیده
The formation of solid solution series Cs1-xMxGaQ2-mC64 (M = K, Rb; Q = S, Se; x = 0–1) 9 was studied by X-ray diffraction and spectroscopic methods, revealing a complete miscibility of 10 CsGaQ2-mC64 with RbGaQ2 and KGaSe2, and a large miscibility gap with KGaS2. All solid solution 11 members exhibit similar Raman spectra, indicating the covalent Ga-Q bonding character. The 12 similar optical band gaps likewise further contribute to this conclusion. Up to a degree of 13 substitution, these solid solutions undergo a phase transition similar to CsGaQ2-mC64. The influence 14 of the substitution parameter x on phase transition process was investigated in situ using high15 temperature X-ray powder diffraction experiments. Phase-pure solid solutions of the high16 temperature polymorphs Cs1-xMxGaQ2-mC16 were obtained up to xmax(K) = 0.1 and xmax(Rb) = 0.3. 17 The crystal structures of these new CsGaQ2-mC16 analogous high-temperature phases were refined 18 from synchrotron diffraction data by Rietveld-refinement. 19

The light gray selenogallate CsGaSe2-mC64 was obtained by reaction of stoichiometric amounts of CsN3, GaSe, and Se at elevated temperatures. Its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c (No. 15) with a = 11.043(2) Å, b = 11.015(4) Å, c = 16.810(2) Å, β = 99.49(1) °, V = 2016.7(8) Å, and Z = 16 (powder data...
متن کاملSolid state polyselenides and polytellurides: a large variety of Se-Se and Te-Te interactions.
A large variety of different interactions between the chalcogen atoms, Q, occur in the solid state structures of polyselenides and polytellurides, including both molecular and infinite units. The simplest motifs are classical Q(2)(2-) dumbbells and nonlinear Q(n)(2-) chains (n = 3, 4, 5, ..), e.g. found in alkali metal polychalcogenides. In addition, nonclassical so-called hypervalent motifs ex...

The Q-state Potts model in two dimensions is very fertile ground for the investigation of phase transitions and critical phenomena. For Q = 2 and 3 there is a second order phase transition between Q ferromagnetic ordered states and a disordered state. For Q = 4 the transition is also second order, but the usual critical behavior is modified by strong logarithmic corrections. For Q > 4 the trans...
متن کاملTowards first-principles understanding of the metal-insulator transition in fluid alkali metals.
By treating the electron-ion interaction as a perturbation in the first-principles Hamiltonian, we have calculated the density response functions of a fluid alkali metal to find an interesting charge instability due to anomalous electronic density fluctuations occurring at some finite wavevector Q in a dilute fluid phase above the liquid-gas critical point. Since |Q| is smaller than the diamete...
